Four As at A-Level can no longer be relied upon to lead you to a Russell Group university. A good 2:1 from a Russell Group university is no longer the golden ticket to a graduate job. Indeed, times are tough for young people today. It's ever-more competitive:

• UK youth unemployment has just crept over the one million mark (the highest level since 1993)
• We now have six unemployed people per job vacancy (the highest in well over a decade)
• The number of recent graduates has increased by around 41 per cent over the past decade
